Every year millions of animals are routinely poisoned, cut open, and forced to live in barren steel cages for years, although studies show that because of variations between species, human reactions to illnesses and drugs completely different from those of other animals. Today's non-animal research methods are humane, more accurate, less expensive, and less time-consuming than animal experiments, yet change comes slowly and many researchers are unwilling to switch to superior technological advances. Animal experimentation not only is preventing us from learning more relevant information, it continues to harm and kill animals and people every year.

Give KFC The Bird

For years, KFC has been dedicated to providing its customers with bucket after bucket of dead, mutilated chickens. The company has spent billions of dollars on drugs, overfeeding, and industrial torture devices to “process” the animals and feed their rotting, diseased flesh to the people of the world at an “affordable” price. Isn’t it time that we gave KFC something back? Yeah, we thought so too. This month, peta2 is “giving KFC the bird,” and we need you to help us out! All you need is a camera (your camera phone will work great), a KFC near you, and a little bit of old-fashioned rage about the fact that KFC refuses to make even basic changes to reduce the suffering of the more than 850 million chickens killed for its restaurants each year.

Take a picture of yourself or your friends giving KFC the bird, and use the form below to post the photo to peta2’s Flickr page. For a little inspiration, have a look at everyone else’s pics. OK, quick summary:

  • Step 1) Using your middle finger, show a KFC near you exactly what you think of it. Take a picture of yourself or your friends doing this with your camera phone or a digital camera.

  • Step 2) Upload your picture using the form below, or e-mail or text it to Flickr@peta2.com.

  • Step 3) Keep checking back on peta2’s Flickr page to see tons of new pictures of people giving KFC the bird.
